There are two types of wire rods. One type covers wire rods to make wires for general applications (JIS G4308 Stainless steel wire rods) and the other type covers those used for welding (JIS G4316 Stainless steel wire rods for welding). These wire rods are hot rolled, heat treated and pickled into round or square wire products in coil.
Wire products are classified into the following, depending on applications.
- Stainless steel wire (mild, includes several types for general applications depending on strengths)
- Stainless steel spring wire (hard, qualities required for spring applications include high strength and toughness)
- Cold headed and cold forged wire (used to make screws- such as bolts and nuts)
- Welding wire (material for welding) |
