Comfortable stainless steel benches for social distancingr

 Applicant: Yamashin Material Co., Ltd.
Reason for selection:
Most of the conventional outdoor benches have seats made of wood or composite material of resin and wood chip and frames made of cast iron or cast aluminum. These benches are subject to splinters and cracks in the seats, and corrosion and paint peeling of the frames, leading to deterioration in appearance in time. Furthermore, metal frames feel hot in summer and cold in winter, and the benches themselves are sometimes broken when bolts and nuts joining different materials of the seats and the frames come off. In other words, there are a number of points to be improved.
Stainless steel, compared with other metals, has better weather resistance and lower thermal conductivity and it may be used outdoors without such further processing as painting or coating. Particularly, in terms of thermal conductivity, the value of SUS304 is low among metals in general and the closest to that of ceramics or wood. The use of stainless steel for benches of integrated structure of seats and frames makes them clean and easy to use for an extended period of time without corrosion or breakage attributed to aging. In addition, as circumstances of these days call more strongly for social distancing due to the spread of Covid-19, stainless steel benches make the distancing physically possible and this feature works to expand their use in diverse spaces including public places where people gather, sightseeing spots, railway stations, spas, designated smoking areas, etc.
