Reason for selection: The Utsunomiya
LRT is a next-generation transportation system with prominent characteristics in
terms of connection with other transport means and ease of boarding and alighting
through improvement of rails and stations. For the roofing components (panels
and gutters) of the LRT station platforms, duplex stainless steel has been
adopted. Longevity of
the accessory facilities of the platforms is essential since their renovation
work inevitably restricts the operating schedules of the trains. In addition,
the station platforms are long in distance and the roofing components are required
to have strength. These factors make SUS821L1, duplex stainless steel with high
durability and high strength, an ideal material for such components and thus,
the above grade has been selected where attractive designing is an important element
as well.With
the dwindling domestic population leading to construction worker shortage, long
product life is becoming all the more critical and under the circumstances, the
use of stainless steel in this project is expected to make a great contribution
to boost demand for the metal in the future.
